Langford were involved in a goal frenzy at home to Southall on Saturday, the SSML Division One match ending 4-4.

The match kicked off in very blustery conditions, Langford having the wind at their backs. Both teams failed to settle in the conditions, and possession was easily given away, resulting in a midfield scramble without any chances being made.

Then after 11 minutes Matt Kenneford collected the ball 35 yards out, spotted the Southall keeper off his line, and shot over his head into the top corner of the net for 1-0.

The lead lasted just three minutes, following a poor back pass, allowing Conor Russell in to shoot into an empty net.

One minute later, Langford lost the ball in central midfield, allowing Edison Teberen in to slot the ball past Adam Lawrence in the Reds goal.

The game settled into midfield possession with no scoring chances, then on 32 minutes Sean Monagle put the ball through to Matt Kenneford who shot home from 25 yards to level.

The second half kicked off with Southall putting on the pressure and Langford restricted to counter attacks. Then in the 64th minute Ryan Nicholl swept the ball through to matt Kenneford who shot home for his hattrick and Langford’s third.

Langford then had a spell of good possession without creating a goal scoring chance. In the 76th minute Southall broke away and Edison Teberen was held back in the area. The same player stepped up to score from the spot.

Langford defended poorly and were punished again in the 79th minute when a Jayraj Jejada shot put the visitors in the lead 3-4.

The Reds showed some spirit and applied pressure which paid off after 90+3 minutes when Kenneford found himself through on goal and calmly shot the equaliser past a stranded keeper.
