Toddington Ladies beat Sandy Ladies for the second time in a week on Sunday - but it was a much closer match than the 4-2 scoreline suggests.

Toddington won 3-0 at Sandy the week before but Sunday’s match-up was tighter with even the Toddington manager saying the score flattered them.

Sandy started strongly with Katie, Pearl and Amber all having good chances that just missed and then Amie made a terrific save coming out to block a good shot.

Jordan put Amber through for a terrific opening goal on 23 minutes. Chloe had to come off after a nasty knock so Loren went on after 27 minutes. Amie made another great save to keep Sandy in front before Toddington equalised on 39 minutes.

Toddington went in front on 47 minutes and then scored twice more on 70 and 71 minutes and were cruising at 4–1.

But Sandy kept battling and created more chances and eventually Chloe pulled one back with a solo effort on 86 minutes.

Sandy kept pressing and very nearly scored again just before final whistle but should take a lot of satisfaction from their performance despite the score line.

Jade and Jordan played really well at centre back supported by Jenny and Chloe and later on Pearl and Claire, whilst Kayleigh and Sophie worked their socks off in midfield supported on the wings by Claire &and Pearl and later Naomi and Loren.

It was a really good performance from all 13 members of the squad who were able to play.

On Sunday Sandy are at home to second placed Harvesters with a 1pm kick off.

Sandy Ladies: Amie Fage, Jenny Holt, Jade Anderson, Jordan Rockall, Chloe Reeves (Loren Ellard), Pearl Houghton, Sophie Webb, Kayleigh Bennett,Claire Ashwell (Naomi Clark), Katie Seldon & Amber Williams.
