Sandy Ladies held their presentation evening at China Express restaurant in Sandy and the turnout was excellent.
Monica Ng the owner of China Express has generously sponsored the team since it started up in the 2004/2005 season so it’s the appropriate place for the team to hold its awards night.
The award winners this year were:
Manager’s Player of the Year: Amber Willett. Players’ Player of the Year: Jade Anderson. Clubman: Katie Seldon. Most Improved Player: Claire Ashwell.
With the obvious exception of manager’s player honour the girls themselves chose who would receive the awards and Jade Anderson was the most popular choice by far for players’ player as she had an exceptional season.
The other awards were much closer with Karen Varley just missing out on clubman and Kirsty Fylling on Most Improved Player.
The team had their best season ever finishing fourth in the Beds and Herts County Girls and Women’s Football League Division One with six wins and three draws from their 14 fixtures.
The whole squad played tremendously well throughout the whole campaign and are looking forward to their 12th season with renewed enthusiasm.
The team train on Fridays on Sunderland Road Recreation Ground from 7pm to 8.30pm and new players are welcome to attend.
