Biggleswade United have appointed a 31-year-old Spanish coach to the club’s managerial hot seat.
Despite his youth, the Barcelona born Cristian Colas Becerra comes to theSecond Meadow club with a CV that already boasts a wealth of experience - in Spain and most recently in Finland.
Cristian, who holds a third level UEFA Pro Licence gained when he was just 23, is due in Englandtoday to meet the club players, coaches and directors.
He will start work with immediate effect ahead of United’s forthcoming campaign in the SSML Premier Division.
Cristian who is fluent in English as well as his native languages of Spanish and Catalan was thrilled to be picked out of 20 applicants for the job.
He said: “ After my experiences in Finland I wanted to try somewhere else abroad, but not just anywhere, but rather in England the very cradle of football.”
Cristian completed his badges in his native Spain, going from Initiation Level to Level 3 in less than five years.
He became assistant coach at CD Masnou and later CE Europa, both of who play in the Spanish Third Division - the equivalent of the English League Division Two.
It was at Sabadell FC, who play in Spain’s Segunda Division, the country’s version of the Championship that Cristian really honed his skills as a youth coach in his capacity as Academy Chief.
He then moved to Finland where he worked for third division side PK.K-U as head coach and with the club’s academy.
