Waders bag a nap hand as Blues lose in league

Biggleswade Town bagged five goals for a second successive weekend as they beat county Evo-Stik League rivals Barton Rovers 5-2 at the Carlsberg Stadium with striker Jamie Arlick bagging himself a hat-trick.

Arlick opened the scoring after 37 minutes with something of a fluky goals but there was no luck about his next two in the 49th ad 59th minutes.

Lee Allinson then scored from the penalty spot while Craig Daniel bagged the Town’s fifth in stoppage time, the Rovers’ two marksmen being former Wader Bobby Dance (penalty) and Jermaine Hall.

Having made their exit from both the FA Trophy and FA Cup within days of each other, Arlesey Town returned to Premier League action in Leicestershire at the weekend with a trip to Barwell FC’s Kirkby Road were they went down 2-0 following a brace from Jamie Towers in the first and 73rd minutes, his second from the penalty spot.

In the second round of the Beds FA Senior Trophy, Potton United thrashed Arlesey Town Reserves 5-1 with goals from Joe Aris (two), Gary Ansell-Carter, Sam Worthington and Chris Reeves after Dale Chester had given the Blues an 11th minute lead.

In the same competition away to Marston Shelton Rovers, Langford booked their place in the third round with a 3-0 win against the Bedfordshire County League side with goals from Jamie Osbourne, Markus Brown and Wes Byrne.

And in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division, Biggleswade United went down 2-1 at Hertford Town where a James Peters goal gave them hope of a third successive win while at Oxhey Jets, Stotfold suffered a 3-0 reverse.
