Two goals midway through the second half condemned Biggleswade Town to a 2-0 defeat at Slough on Tuesday.

The first half ended goalless, with the Rebels having the upper hand and more chances but the Waders defence standing firm. They suffered a blow shortly before the interval, however, when Gavin Hoyte was forced off injured.

Slough broke the deadlock in this Southern League Premier fixture just past the hour when sub Ed Smith netted at the second attempt.

And the hosts delighted the majority of the 242-strong crowd when Charlie Mpi nodded home on 71 minutes.

Sam Merson headed over late on but Slough held out for a deserved victory.

Biggleswade are once again left without a weekend game - their scheduled opponents Chesham United are playing in the FA Cup Second Round at Bradford City. Waders return to action on Tuesday when they host Bedford in the Beds Senior Cup.
