Trailing 2-0 at the break, strikes from captain Craig Daniel and in-form striker Inih Effiong earned a 2-2 draw and the Waders’ first ever point at the league leaders.

It leaves Biggleswade in ninth spot, just five points off the play-offs.

Poole had the better of the first half and were worthy of their lead.

They went in front on 35 minutes when Steve Devlin chipped the ball over the defence and Luke Roberts beat the offside and scored past Garry Mallone.

They doubled their advantage when clever interplay between Luke Burbidge and Roberts found Marvin Brooks and his long range shot beat the Waders keeper.

Biggleswade came out stronger in the second period and forced Hutchings into several saves.

Midway through the half they pulled a goal back when Chris Marsh crossed and Daniel headed home.

They were level on 74 minutes. Effiong picked the ball up on the left and forced his way into the middle to convert past Nick Hutchings.

Waders manager Chris Nunn was delighted with the point, saying: “The boys don’t know when they are beat, another fantastic performance.”

Waders visit Cambridge City on Saturday.
