Killala Quay brings up half-century

Chipping Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon reached the 50-winner mark at the weekend when Killala Quay won at Sandown.

The six-year-old landed the Neptune Investment Management Novices Hurdle in the hands of Richard Johnson.

The Hull Farm handler said: “Killala Quay brought up the 50th winner of the season in style, winning a Grade 2 race at Sandown. It was a fair performance but we have always really liked the horse, despite his disappointing run last time at Cheltenham.”

That came on the back of Hannibal The Great’s success at Southwell.

Kielan Woods partnered the five-year-old to win the 32Red Casino Conditional Jockeys Novices Hurdle.

Longsdon added: “Hannibal did it with relatively little fuss and we can now head for bigger and better things.”

Longsdon completed a double at Fontwell on Tuesday with Pete The Feat My Miss Lucy.

Pete The Feat won the 32Red Casino Handicap Chase in the hands of Noel Fehily who then partnered My Miss Lucy to land the 32Red Mares Novices Hurdle.
