Biggleswade Athletic Club turned out in force at the St Neots Half Marathon at the weekend despite the gale force winds.

his was the last opportunity, this year, for runners to compete for the honour of being crowned Club Champion.

This particular half marathon is a firm favourite with club members, with 26 runners among a field of 1,300.

Starting at St Neots the route takes the runners through the villages of Abbotsley, Waresley and the open countryside along quiet roads and farm tracks.

Unfortunately, the strong winds did hamper our athletes’ times a little but everyone finished within the 2 hours 30 minutes cut-off time.

Leading the team from the start, Paul Davies finished almost two minutes ahead of his club champion rival, Rich Bevan, in a time of 1hr 22mins 38secs. The first lady home was new member, Hannah Broom in an excellent, sub-2hr time of 1hr 54mins 01secs.
