A weakened Biggleswade team lost 4-1 at home to unbeaten MK Squash in the Bedfordshire League on Monday.

Chris Moss had to step up to number 4 and Matt Bruce made his debut at number 5.

Debutant Matt found his experienced opponent Lee too wily and went down 0-3 (5-15, 9-15, 9-15).

Marcus Gray, at number 2, won his first game against Nick comfortably 15-8 but then lost the next two 6-15, 7-15. Marcus bounced back to win the fourth game 15-13 and with his opponent tiring looked set to be able to go on to win the match. However, he lost the fifth 8-13.

Rich Anthony at number 3 lost the first game to Jake 8-15 but showed his resolve to win the second 16-14. He narrowly lost the third 14-16 before again bouncing back to take the fourth 15-10. Rich went ahead 14-13 in the fifth and was then able to win the next point to take the final game and secure a 3-2 win.

Unfortunately Rich’s result was already academic as Chris Moss was outclassed by Barry going down meekly 5-15, 4-15, 4-15.

The final game saw number 1 Dan Easton against Matt. Dan started brightly to win the first 15-13 but then his opponent proved too strong taking the next three games 12-15, 6-15, 12-15.

Biggleswade scored six points for games won and MK Squash 19 including bonus points.

Next up sees Biggleswade travel to Milton Keynes to take on Open University II.
