Sandy racer Ben Tuck prepared for the British Mazda MX-5 Championship in style this week.

The 17-year-old took part in an intensive session at a race driver training facility at Silverstone and then followed up with a shakedown test of his car at the Bedford Autodrome.

Ben’s performance on a Formula 1 style simulator was analysed by experts to fine tune his technique ahead of the championship, which is due to be televised.

The MSA Academy driver then took part in a gruelling series of fitness, coordination and reaction assessments to develop a programme designed to put him at the front of the grid for his first race of the season in early April.

Ben has secured partnerships with hi tech companies Aviamics, Saturn Systems and Air Research and also with the Mazda MX-5 Owners Club and Goldstar Onboard, who provide his race data system.

The preparation builds on Ben’s hard work over the closed season. He represented the MSA Young Drivers Academy and the British Racing and Sports Car Club at the Autosport International Trade show in January.

Ben studies with the MSA Academy on their Advanced Apprenticeship scheme in Loughborough.

He started kart racing in 2010 with Luton-based 3DR Motorsport. In 2014 he competed with Upper Caldecote based AB Motorsport, in 6 Mazda MX-5 Championship events leading one race and finishing fourth twice.

His aim is to win the 2015 championship and move into GT Sportscar racing or the British Touring Car Championship.
