Waresley recorded another excellent win in their Tucker Cambs & Hunts League Division One match against Nassington on Saturday.
Batting first on a bouncy wicket and fast outfield, Waresley initially struggled against some fine seam bowling by Nassington’s overseas bowler Ryan Duffy (4-29).
Only Charlie Lewis (91) with a brilliant knock looked comfortable, until he was joined by skipper Simon Donald (39) in a stand of 83.
With Ashwin Reddy (22) also chipping in, Waresley only just failed to get to 200, being all out on the last ball of their 48 overs for 196. 15 year old left arm spinner Harrison Craig (5-47) cleaned up the lower order batsmen.
Waresley were soon into the wickets when they bowled, with Joe Colebrook (3-39) the best of the seam bowlers. Josh Smith (5-34) returned his best bowling figures of the season with his lively off spin as Nassington were bowled out for 161.
Josh, who is in Essex CCC Academy, has been selected to play in the Bunbury Festival for London & South East next week.
Michael Pickard smashed 143 runs off 110 balls in Blunham’s draw in Division Two against Khalsa. His innings included 20 boundaries and four 6s. Alongside Connor Heaps (58) he helped Blunham sscore 275.
Although Khalsa’s top batsmen stumbled the middle order rallied and they finished on 229-7.
