Potton pipped despite century partnership

Potton Town were pipped at the post by Allenbury’s & County Hall in the Saracens Herts League on Saturday.

Put into bat, Sean Stevens went for a golden duck but the side quickly recovered and the highlight of the innings was a fifth wicket partnership of 107 between Sam Worthington 45 and James Howlett (71no). This pushed the Potton score to 206-7.

The visitors made steady progress with their reply, with all the top five partnerships contributing.

At 168-4 it looked an easy enough victory, but wickets then started to tumble. However Allenbury’s did just enough to get over the line with two wickets in hand.
