Thomas Taylor made 75 to steer Langford to victory over Old Warden in the Beds Invitation League on Saturday.
His knock at number three, ably supported by Adam Parkins (28) and Paul Crouch (23), propelled Langford to a respectable 193-8 in their 45 overs of the Division One fixture.
Ben Dove was the pick of the Old Warden bowlers with 3-28 off nine overs.
Both Warden openers fell cheaply in the reply but Dominic Mawdsley settled the innings down with 42. Edward Holland weighed in with 35 but he was left stranded when the innings closed at 164, 29 runs short. Adam Parkins took care of the lower order, taking 3-24 off nine overs.
Sandy saw off Grafham by just 18 runs in a close match in Division Two.
Asked to bat first, Sandy’s opener Zahaan Hussain took the bowlers on and smashed four fours and two sixes in his score of 65.
However no-one could hang around at the other end too long as the Sandy innings ended for 170 in the 39th over.
Grafham were always in the hunt but some economical Sandy bowling from Harry Chinn, James Kier and Sam Nugent restricted them to 152-7 once their 40 overs was up.
In Division Three Biggleswade Town II beat Ampthill IV by 40 runs.
Biggleswade’s best scores came from Harry Roberts (40) and Adam Giddings (32), with tight bowling ensuring Ampthill couldn’t get near their score.
