Go quackers for the carnival duck race this weekend!

Hundreds of ducks will be racing down the River Ivel on Sunday as the Biggleswade Carnival Duck Race takes place.

The fun starts at noon at the Dan Albone car park in Shortmead Street, near Sainsbury’s, with the first of several races set to start at 2pm.

There will be plenty going on to entertain the whole family – including stalls, games, a barbecue and mini disco.

Ducks cost £1 and are available at the event; and if yours is first across the line you could win a prize.

If you can’t wait until then to get involved in the carnival spirit, the Whimsical Quizzical is tonight at the Gardeners Arms pub in Potton Road.

There are loads of prizes to be won in this lighthearted quiz and there are prizes to be won. Entry is £1 per person and it’s at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

Serious quiz goers might like to test their brain power at the Carnival Quiz on June 16 from 7.30pm at the Working Men’s Club in Church Street.

Teams of up to six can enter – book in with quizmaster Kevin on 01767 223098.

And it’s eyes down on Tuesday, June 17 for the bingo. It costs just £1 per book and there is a £100 jackpot to be won!

The Crib Night follows at the Working Men’s Club on Thursday, June 19 at 7pm. Entry is £6 and you could win a cash prize.

The Grand Parade of Floats is on June 21 and promises to be the highlight of the carnival celebrations. Come along and cheer as the colourful floats wend their way through town .

Tickets for the kids disco, which takes place on June 22, are now available from Hoopers of London on the High Street. Tickets are £2 and accompanying adults get in free.The event runs from 3pm to 5pm at the Working Men’s Club. See www.biggleswade
