Hastings online piano recital with prize-winner Michelle Candotti

You can catch the concert on Friday, May 8 at 7pm when she will play F Liszt – Paraphrase on Ernani; J S Bach – Prelude and Fugue no16 Vol II; and F Chopin – Etude Op10 no.8.

Spokeswoman Dominika Hicks explains: “Hastings International Piano, the charity responsible for the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition and the Hastings International Piano Festival, has launched an online concert series to support the careers of their prizewinners in this time of national crisis. The short recitals premiere every Friday evening on Facebook at 7pm and at Hastingsinternationalpiano.org.

“In these times when the livelihood of our musicians is at risk, with engagements being cancelled and studies on hold, this series aims to provide an income to the young competition prizewinners as well as offering Hastings Piano supporters and the wider public something to look forward to at the end of the week.

“The concerts are free to view, but viewers are able to make a voluntary donation to Hastings International Piano Engagement Fund or choose to join as a Friend whilst watching. These donations help to continue the organisation’s work supporting young pianists as well as engagement projects offered to the young people of Hastings and the surrounding area. This includes free tickets to events as well as workshops, school visits and inspirational talks from visiting artists.”

The Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition is an internationally-renowned competition for young concert pianists from around the world.

She obtained the piano Diploma with top marks while attending Verona's “Dell’Abaco” Conservatory of Verona at the age of 14 under the direction of Laura Palmieri.

Michelle has participated in many piano competitions winning a number of them: among many, she won the "XV Competition for the Best Italian Musician’s Graduates 2009/10" (this led her to recording a CD in September 2011).She won the second prize and Audience prize at the “International Piano Competition A. Scriabin”, the second prize and the “Sir Philip Ledge Trophy” for the youngest finalist at “Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition”, the second prize and the “Rotary Club Award” for the youngest finalist at XXIII International Competition Chopin Rome, receiving also the medal of the President of the Italian Senate, the “Henk de by Junior Jury” in the International Piano Competition Franz Liszt in Utrecht and third prize in the “Brescia Classical International Piano Competition”

She has played with the “Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacau”, directed by M° O. Balan, with the “Simphonic Orchestra Città di Grosseto” directed by M° G. Emilsson, with the “Royal Philharmonic Concerto Orchestra” directed by M° B. Wright, the “Orchestra of the Goldoni's Foundation” directed by M° M. Menicagli and the “Orchestra Nova Amadeus” directed by M° N.Samale.

She has featured in many recitals, playing in important concert hall like Olimpico Theatre in Vicenza, Royal Albert Hall in London, Bologna's Manzoni theatre and Mozart's room, Verdi Theatre in Pordenone Padova's Giants room, at the Sinfonia Varsovia Hall and Chopin Hall in Warsaw, Florence’s “Salone dei Cinquecento” andHastings' Stables Theatre. As a younger student and young talent, Michelle was invited to feature in a concerto held in Debussy's natal house in Saint-Germain en Laye, Paris.

She is now studying under the supervision of M° D.Alexeev to the Royal College of Music, with M° E. Pace at the “Imola International Piano Academy” and with M° C. Palese.

She is a Kenneth and Violet Scholar at the Royal College of Music of London.
