Club marks its 30th anniversary with live music

Music from several live bands will be put on to celebrate a club’s 30th birthday.

Club 85 in Hitchin hits the big 3-0 on Tuesday and to mark the last night of its 20s, the venue is taking over the nearby Bancroft Gardens on Monday August 31 with an event filled with live bands, DJs and food which starts at noon.

There will be music on the bandstand from The Winchester Collective DJs, The Trailer Trash Orchestra, Indi and the Vegas and Roadrummer.

Performing on the acoustic stage is Rhys Kirkman, Izzy Rowland, Pete Woodroffe, Cara Beard, Ellie Ryner, The Over Everythings, A Work in Progress, Roxy Entrance to the event is free and people can bring along a picnic and settle in.

The music event is due to finish at 7.30pm

The club has gigs every Friday and Saturday night as well as monthly acoustic gigs and special music nights throughout the year.

The venue has a built its reputation around friendliness and decent stage and sound facilities. It is used by a range of outside promoters as well as in house and has a constantly running eclectic programme of decent original live music that covers everything from reggae to metal, dubstep to indie.

The Who tribute band Who’s Next will perform on Saturday with support from young rockers KIED. On Sunday, the Scum of Toytown, an old time ska/punk band will entertain with support acts also appearing.
