A summer term’s dream for actors

IT was a dream of a week for middle school students.

Year 8 students at Gamlingay Village College were off timetable last week. Instead of their usual lessons they were joined by Anthony Glenn, star of his own one man Shakespeare show.

When he arrived on Tuesday he gave a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the whole school, with the temporary assistance of several students.

He then began working with the school’s oldest students, teaching them how to put on their own version of the play.

English teacher, Kate Hall, said: “He worked with 47 Year 8s and did some drama activities. They showed their talents and from that he cast A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

“The children loved it and a lot of those that hadn’t really shown a big interest in drama really came out of themselves.”
