Firefighters open their doors for some family fun

Firefighters are throwing open the doors of Potton Community Fire Station for their '˜Open Day' on Saturday 27 August and inviting the local community to come along.

They are organising an afternoon of fun and discovery for the whole family.

This year they are focusing on the importance of having and testing smoke alarms in the home, fire safety for the elderly, and preventing Chimney fires. There will be a live demonstration showing how quickly a fire can develop in a property.

“Open days are a fantastic family day out and a great opportunity for people to come and find out about their local station and the services we provide to our local community. People are often surprised to find out about the variety of things we do.”

The event is from 1-3pm on Saturday.
