YFC anniversary ball raises over £6k for causes

More than £6,000 was raised at an anniversary ball by young farmers, for a number of causes.

Blunham and District Young Farmers Club held the 40th anniversary ball at the Park Inn, Bedford, on April 22.

The evening event raised a total of £6,371.30 which will go towards the Primrose Unit at Bedford Hospital, Macmillan in Bedford and YFC funds.

More than 320 members past and present attended the ball.

Club leader Sally Day, who was a patient at the Primrose Unit two years ago, said she was overwhelmed by the amount raised.

The club will use the money for educational meetings, competition resources and training which will help all members and allow the club to continue to grow.

Blunham YFC is a rural youth group for young people aged from 10 to 26 years. They enjoy weekly meetings on Wednesday evenings, sport, visits, competitions and social events. Contact Sally on 0759 4992445 or 01234 828960 for more details.
