Looking plaque to the past

This week’s plaque is located in Biggleswade market square, where Iceland now trades.

The premises was formerly the home of Maythorn Coachworks.

John Maythorn, a manufacturer of horse-drawn carriages moved from Sun Street to the site in 1869. Following a fire in 1923 the factory was rebuilt but later closed in 1931.
