Inquisitive tots in Sandy took part in a Road Safety Week initiative – which saw them out and about in town.

Mini Explorers Day Nursery, High Street, took part in an international campaign run by the charity Brake to encourage children, young people, and parents to be road-aware and "speak up for safe and healthy journeys".

The hardworking little ones learnt about the importance of the 'Stop, Look and Listen' technique, and were excited to see the different types of crossings.

Manager, Laura Campbell, told the Chronicle: "We kicked off Road Safety Week by going for a lovely walk to town and crossing different roads. We spoke about the type of crossings we could see, and how to safely cross them. The children were very well behaved, and listened to instructions. Thank you to all the traffic that had to stop several times to allow the children to use the different crossings!"

The theme of Road Safety Week 2022 was 'Safe Roads For All', while the week was an opportunity to raise funds to help Brake care for road victims and campaign for safe roads for all.

Brake states: "We want a world where everyone is free to move in a safe and healthy way, every day. We work to stop road deaths and injuries, support people affected by road crashes and campaign for safe and healthy mobility for all. Every life on our roads matters, and every death and injury is preventable."
