That said, United enjoyed the better of the first half chances while the Jets failed to register a shot on target.

United striker Jude Eboji went close in the 12th minute, bringing out a one handed save from Jets’ Dave Jacks and the number nine had the ball in the net in the 19th minute only for the referee to blow for a foul.

Wave after wave of United attacks ended fruitless, although Jacks was required to bravely dive at the feet of Tom Cookman and Reynaldo Carbon to thwart the United frontmen.

Jets’ full-back, the impressive Ashley Fongho, looked dangerous on the counter but the visitors’ efforts seemed to peter out around the edge of the box.

The second half started brightly enough with United’s Nick Threadgold and Cookman finding a way through the Jets’ back line but once again the final strike did trouble the goal.

In the final minutes substitute Jack Boyd almost snatched victory for United but his strike was scrambled away by Jets player-manager Wayne Gladdy.
