Waders below par against Hungerford

The early game was all Waders, and they finished strongly, but in between Hungerford showed their appetite for goals.

Sam Merson, twice, and Max York had early efforts wide of the mark but it was Hungerford who took the lead on 23 minutes from Stefan Brown who took advantage of a missed punch by his namesake, Waders keeper Ian Brown.

However the scorers were levelled up by Ian Rees inside ten minutes as his shot found the visiting keeper flat footed.

It was all Waders except for the 36th minute when Stefan Brown made it 2-1 with a clever flick at the near post.

In the second half Biggleswade tried to make amends with pressure on the Hungerford back line.

With the Waders pushing forward Tyler struck on 71 minutes as he swept in a cross, and close to full time he latched on to a pass to put the result beyond doubt.

Biggleswade were far below their best. A side with not too many changes from the team that achieved five straight wins could not emulate those performances.

That winning Southern League run has now been followed by two defeats and Waders will look to regain their winning form when Welsh side Merthyr Town visit on Saturday.
