Andrei, Tomas and all that jazz!

JAZZ is not a genre heard too often in the pubs and clubs of Chronicle Country but fans of the genre will be in for a treat on Saturday (July 7).

Top pianist Andrei Pytaleu will be performing at the The Elmitt Piano Academy in Arlesey as part of a quartet.

He will be joined by Roy Viveash on saxophone, Tomas Pedersen on double bass and Chris Johnson on drums.

The quartet will be playing contemporary jazz.

Over in Biggleswade, formidable rock and pop five-piece Kill Bill are due to play at The Red Lion pub, also on Saturday.

Formed two years ago for one gig, the band have continued to play since and promise a loud and raucous set encompassing punk, glam, brit-pop, grunge and classic rock tracks.

Villagers who are recovering from a busy day of raft-racing may also like to head down to the Ivy Leaf Club in Langford on Saturday.

The Mighty Wonderfuls will be entertaining those who have taken part in the Langford Raft Race – and others besides – at the official presentation night which follows the event.

The band play a blend of funk, soul and reggae and promise a quality set and a packed dancefloor.

Admission is free for members and is £2 for non-members.

Gig goers in Meppershall can also enjoy a performance from the Soul Man on Friday (July 6).

One of the most popular performers in the area, The Soul Man sings classics from the likes of Barry White, Luther Vandross, The Temptations, George Benson and The Drifters.

He will be singing at The Sugar Loaf pub in the village from 9pm onwards.

Staying in Meppershall, rock and roll and rhythm and blues specialists Juke are set to play at the village hall on Saturday.

Juke are one of the busiest rhythm and blues bands on the circuit and pull no punches, always playing with heart and soul.

Over in Potton, rock and blues will be the genres on the agenda when the Machine Shed Band arrive in town.

They will be playing at Potton and District Club on Saturday.

A tribute show with a difference will also be entertaining music fans in Sandy on Saturday.

The All New Blues Brothers Revue has been running for eight years and sees Dave Wiggins and Colin Smith star as the legendary Jake and Elwood.

The show will be performed at The Roundabout Club from 9pm onwards.

A musical weekend in Stotfold will include a 1970s disco with DJ Kev at The Coach and Horses on Friday.

A different kind of sound will be in the offing at The Crown pub on Saturday.

Celtic Krystal are due to perform at the venue and will be bringing traditional folk song and fiddle music to the table.

The trio play dynamic jigs and reels to haunting airs and passionate Celtic melodies.
