Get ready for the Rejects

The Roundabout Club in Sandy will be the venue for the performance by The Soul Man.

Tomorrow night (Saturday) at the venue rock covers will be the name of the game when The Mighty Hub Whipley play there.

Rock will also be on the agenda at The Old Oak in Arlesey when Maxwell Hammer and Smith play there tomorrow night.

A bit of progressive rock never goes amiss of a weekend either and fans of Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull and ELP will feel right at home with The Kurmujun.

The four-piece rock band from Cambridge specialise in classic and progressive rock from the late 1960s and 1970s and will be performing at The Rose in Biggleswade tomorrow night (Saturday).

Punters can expect to hear a wide variety of different sounds and influences at the pub, including from acts as diverse as David Bowie, Cream and Jimi Hendrix among others.

The basic line-up is guitar, bass, drums and vocals but this is often augmented by keyboards, base pedals, a flute and on occasions an additional guitar too.

Biggleswade Liberal Club will be welcoming Huggy Flares, also tomorrow night.

One of the region’s funkiest and fun soul and disco bands will be performing Motown classics from the 1960s and funk and disco favourites from the 1970s, with occasional more recent tracks thrown in for good measure.

Christmas will start with a bang in Bedford next week, meanwhile, with live music from legendary punk rock heroes The Cockney Rejects.

On Saturday, December 10, Bedford Esquires will play host to an exclusive gig from the punk pioneers who will make sure you have a Christmas night to remember.

The Cockney Rejects will bring their adrenaline-fueled, anarchic live set to the main stage at the venue, fusing seventies rock with old school punk.

The band have worked tirelessly throughout the years to create their own distinctive sound and as a new wave of street punk floods the music scene they are the grandaddies of cool.

Not content with creating a style of music which defined a frustrated generation at the dawn of the 1980s, the band have proved their ferocious energy can stand the test of time as they continue a successful nationwide tour, launch a commemorative album The Zonophone Years ’79-‘81 and prepare for the release of their feature film East End Babylon, scheduled for nationwide release in February.

So if you fancy a right old Christmas knees-up at Esquires this festive season, this is the night to do it.

As well as a look back over the headline band’s thirty year career there will be a chance to experience young bucks of the scene Menace, Skincraft and Wasted Life.
