It’s a small world for trains

The Scalefour Society will showcase the very best of 4mm scale railway modelling with high quality layouts, demonstrations of how to make models and a wide range of traders from whom to buy.

The exhibition takes place at Stoke Mandeville Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, writes Heather Jan Brunt.

The layouts are the main reason people visit the exhibitions and this year there are a wide range of different periods and types to enjoy, including two of the largest P4 layouts in existence.

Another large layout sure to attract attention is Epsom and Epsom Town built by Bob Cummins. It is 60 ft long, set in 1928 and features the new station built by Southern Railway to replace the former LBSCR and LSWR pre-grouping stations.

There will be an extensive range of demonstrations and help desks to assist visitors to enjoy their own modelling and perhaps learn some new skills.

The exhibition will be open from 10.30am-5.30pm on Saturday and from 10am-4.30pm on Sunday. The price on the door is £5 for society members and £8 for non members.

Tickets are valid for both days. Partners and accompanied children will be admitted free.

There will be a free shuttle bus running from Aylesbury Station, intended for people who wish to arrive in Aylesbury by train, or who prefer to park in the town centre. Donations towards its cost will be possible at the show ticket desks.

The timetable will make for simple connections with trains to/from London. With an allowance for the driver to take a break at a quiet time, the timetable is for a half-hourly service between the station and show.
