Dial T for thriller put on by drama group in Gamlingay

One of the most critically acclaimed thrillers of all time is to be staged by a drama group.

Gamlingay Players will be presenting Dial M For Murder at the Eco-Hub in Stocks Lane on Friday April 15 and Saturday April 16.

It is the story of Tony Wendice, an ex-professional tennis player, who married Sheila for her money.

When he discovers she is having an affair with a crime writer, he plans to murder her. He arranges the perfect murder.

He blackmails a scoundrel he used to know into strangling her for a fee of one thousand pounds, and arranges a brilliant alibi for himself.

Unfortunately, all does not go according to plan.

A spokesman for Gamlingay Players said: “This is not so much a ‘who-dun-it’ but a ‘he-did-it’ and will he get away with it?! The suspense continues to the very end….”

It was originally a play written by Frederic Knott and premiered in 1952.

However the most famous version of the story is the one directed by the master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock released two years later starring Ray Milland and Grace Kelly.

The show will see Jon Mountfort as Captain Lesgate, Craig Smoothy as Mark Halliday, Graham Virgo as Tony Wendice, Bryony Mountfort as Sheila Wendice, Colin Carroll as chief inspector Hubbard).

The show starts at 7.45pm each night.
