Something special from artist Storey

LEIGHTON artist David Storey is keeping busy this month with work in three exhibitions including a four-week show at the town’s Lake Street theatre.

David, of Ashwell Street, opens the Leighton Theatre exhibition on Wednesday when a selection of his limited edition prints will be on view and for sale. The event runs from 9.30am until 3pm until Dec 3.

A day later he is one of a group of artists taking part in a four-day show called “Something Borrowed” at Cultivate, an east London gallery, following it, on Saturday, with a month-long show in Glasgow.

Born in Workington, David grew up in Cumbria before studying art at London’s Middlesex University. After graduating David worked for Chrysalis Records, first as a designer and then as art director. His best known work from this period are the innovative and influential designs he produced for the cult group The Specials and their record label 2 Tone.

David’s paintings and prints have featured in numerous exhibitions, including recent shows at The Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, The Gallery in Cork Street, and The Coningsby Gallery, London. In May of this year David appeared on the BBC2 arts programme Show Me the Monet.
