Nervous pupils celebrate with their first choice school on National Secondary Offer Day

Yesterday was National Secondary Offer Day, when parents and pupils across the country nervously discovered what the future held for them.

But it was good news all round here where the council was delighted to announce that all 2,765 pupils who applied to transfer to Central Bedfordshire schools for the 2015/16 academic year were granted their first preference.

Councillor Mark Versallion, Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “This is great news and a testament to our School Admissions Team who have worked very hard to make sure that all applicants got their first choice.

“Being able to attend a good school on your doorstep is very important for children and their families, and it’s great that we are able to offer this in Central Bedfordshire.”

Anyone wishing to decline or change their offered place can do so by submitting a change of preference form. The deadline for this is Monday, 16 March, with new offers going out on 24 April.

Meanwhile, children starting school and transferring to middle school will find out whether they have received their first choice on 16 April, National Primary Offer Day.
