Stratton Upper School celebrates success as grades an improvement on last year

Principal Roz Hodges is proud of her students’ hard work during the pandemic, with A-level and vocational grades “an improvement” on those of last year.
She also noted that the resilience of the staff, students and families was “humbling” as the community had pulled together to help pupils through the “most unusual year”.

Hide AdMs Hodges said: “In the most unusual year we have been working tirelessly to support our students, ensuring they can progress to their chosen destination, despite all the challenges of the lockdown.
“Overall A-level and vocational grades are an improvement on last year and reflect the hard work of all our Year 13 students, supported by their parents and our staff.
“There have been some stunning successes and we are delighted to share the achievements and destinations of our students.
“Lonyin Chan with no fewer than three A* and two A grades is going to study computer science at Manchester University.

Hide Ad“James Hogben, Csenge Keri and Beatrice Vasconceios De Sousa each achieved three A* and one A grades. Beatrice will be reading history at the University of Cambridge, Csenge will be reading physics at Durham University and James biomedical science at Manchester.
“I Frost and Harvey Young both achieved one A* and three A grades. I Frost is going on to study theatre and performance at Warwick University. Harvey will be studying history and politics at York. Lenice Joubert, who achieved a Distinction* and three A grades, is going on to study English literature at the University of Hertfordshire.
“Manu Chapman achieved two A* and two B grades and is holding an offer of an aerospace engineering degree with Southampton University.
“Taylor Gilling, Jack Welsted, Phoebe Wick and Louis Winwood all achieved an A*, A and two B grades. Sian Roberts, who achieved three A and one B grades, is going on to study veterinary science at Bristol University.

Hide Ad“We are also really pleased that Annabel Fisher and Lily Fry will be starting careers in nursing. Annabel has an apprenticeship and Lily will be studying at Derby. Imogen Richardson will read law at Lincoln University and Maisie Condron will study physiotherapy at Coventry, while Jacob O’Connor will start an apprenticeship with the East of England Ambulance Service.
“We are delighted that our Year 13 students are going on to a wide range of higher and further education and training, and feel confident that they will make a positive contribution to the wider community as they have during their time at Stratton Upper.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of those parents who have not only contacted the school to thank us for the support we have provided but also for their input and support, especially during these unusual and uncertain times.
“The resilience of the staff, students and families in our local community has been humbling and we are very proud of everyone’s hard work and perseverance.”
