Plans have been submitted to breath new life into a former hospital.

If successful, it looks like the former Lakeside Hospital in Wyboston could become a SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) school.

The specialist mental health hospital – in The Lane – had been rated ‘inadequate’ by the CQC (Care Quality Commission) in December 2019 and placed in special measures before closing down.

The buildings on the site are developed around a village green setting and the current resident accommodation comprises 81 bedrooms.

If you’re interested, the change-of-use planning application reference number is 26/00009/MAF and you’ll find it on the Bedford Borough Council website.
