Great deal for compost bins offered by council
With national Compost Awareness Week taking place from May 4-10, Central Beds Council is giving residents the chance to buy home compost bins at a subsidised price of £13 for a 220-litre bin or £15 for a 330-litre bin.
Ian McMurdy, the council’s waste awareness officer, said: “Grass cuttings, fruit and vegetable peelings, tea bags and even egg shells are all ideal for composting.
“Recycling this waste in your home compost bin will not only help break it down in an environmentally friendly way but reduce the amount of waste in your black bin and help you reap the benefit of great quality, free compost for your garden.”
