A hair-raising experience for Biggleswade man

A BRAVE fundraiser is set to have most of his body hair removed as he prepares for a charity trip to Uganda.

Austen Haines will have all of the hair removed from his head, face, upper body and legs in a bid to raise money for the Let Them Help Themselves out of Poverty (LTHTP) organisation.

Maxwells hair salon in Biggleswade will be the venue for the waxing session, which will see Holme Court Avenue resident Austen, 41, putting himself through a great deal of pain in the name of charity.

He said: “I think it’s good to be doing something like this where people can see straight away that you have earned your sponsorship money – especially as far as my eyebrows are concerned!

“If people want to sponsor me and help raise money for LTHTP then that would be great but if they want the money to go to another charity instead then that’s fine too.”

LTHTP helps to find funding for charitable projects in Africa and especially in the village of Ruhanga in south west Uganda where Austen will be staying during his trip.

He will fly out on his 42nd birthday, October 10 and plans to spend at least six months in the country.
