A helping hand over the summer holidays

School holidays can be a testing time on finances so this summer the Bedfordshire Food Aid Network (BFAN) have helped by giving Holiday Packs to dozens of local families with children who would usually receive free school meals.

The packs contained basic filling foods such as cereals, pasta and soups, along with a few treats like chocolate biscuits and sweets.

BFAN Network Co-ordinator Caroline said: “The summer holidays can be a long and expensive time to keep children fed and entertained.

“It’s even harder when they’re not getting their usual free lunches at school and these packs are proving a real help.”

BFAN collects food en masse which is used by local food parcel providers.

Food donations can be dropped off at Preen Re-use Centres in Biggleswade and Dunstable, or contact Preen on 08449 934399 to arrange collection of large quantities such as harvest festival donations.
