A-level results: Samuel Whitbread Community College

PUPILS from Samuel Whitbread Community College are celebrating after notching up a 98 per cent pass rate in this year’s A-level results.

Nearly 600 exams were sat at the Clifton school and the A* to C pass rate was a similarly impressive 65 per cent.

Sophie Adams and Kirstie Biggs both achieved straight A*s in their exams, while Rob Plummer celebrated two A* grades and two A grades and Chris Greer achieved two A*s and an A.

Caitlin Gardner, Hannah Hucklesby and Vanessa White all celebrated after achieving an A* and two As, while Portia Hill-Chalmers got three A grades.

Principal Robert Robson said: “I’m delighted by the results this year. Our sixth form has grown massively in the last few years and in September we will have 500 students.

“I am very pleased that our results have not diminished with our growth and in fact have improved on last year’s set.

“I congratulate every one of our students. Their hard work has paid off.”

Mr Robson had special praise for the students who are going to university. He added: “It has been a hugely competitive year for students to get into university and I am really pleased for all of the youngsters who set their sights on a university place and have achieved it.

“A number already have fantastic career paths worked out and their grades will really help them to succeed in the future.”
