Imogen Edwards was delighted with her four A grades in biology, chemistry, English literature and general studies, as well as collecting a B for an extended project AS-level.

She said: “I didn’t expect to get that high so I’m very happy. It was all worthwhile in the end! Now I’m planning to do biochemistry at the University of Bath.”

Regarding recent comments about exam standards she added: “The exams are not easier – they are different. They test different skills. I’d say they are harder but it’s applying to real things so it’s more useful.”

The highest scoring student at AS-level was Willem Zwetsloot, who went home with five A grades in biology, chemistry, physics, maths and general studies.

He said: “My revision paid off and I’m pretty happy. I think I’m going to drop biology but I’d like to do them all. I would like to go to uni and be a chemist or something like that.”

Headteacher, David Stevinson, said that he was very pleased with the results. He congratulates the students and thanks them, their parents, the staff and governors for their work.
