A value-able way to instill good principles

A SCHOOL is trying to instill its students with good values to turn them into responsible citizens.

Shefford Lower School held a values day with the focus on the value of freedom.

Each class studied a different Bible story and related it to the value.

Year 2 teacher, Antonia Polito, said: “We’ve had one values day a term this year. The day involved the whole school, from nursery to Year 4.

“The Foundation Stage focuses on Noah’s Ark, Year 1 did Jonah and the Whale, Year 2 did the Creation story and Key Stage 2 did Crossing the Red Sea.

“The work all morning was art based and one piece from each class was entered into a sacred art competition.”

“Reverend Summerfield from the Baptist Church in Shefford gave a freedom assembly in the afternoon.”

The pupils also completed other related activities such as singing and drama. They were visited by Lynne Meadows from the Acorn Pre-school and Catherine Williams from the Children’s Centre, who came to look at their work.

Antonia added that the children really enjoyed the day and many of them followed it up in their homework.
