Abba-solutely fabulous!

THERE can be few finer and better suited combinations in life than music and ale, so where better to enjoy some choice sounds a beer festival?

Music – and beer – fans can do just that at the 2nd Langford Beer Festival tomorrow (Saturday, April 30) as The Mighty Wonderfuls arrive to accompany all that fine ale.

The group specialise in all that is uplifting and party-like on the music front, from KC and the Sunshine Band and Kool and the Gang to James Brown and Madness.

The music will continue at the festival on Sunday (May 1) with The Pheasant Pluckers.

Over in Sandy, visitors to The Roundabout Club can expect a blend of rock covers and original material as Gallows Hill arrive in town tomorrow. This four-piece Stevenage band will be rocking the joint from 9pm until midnight.

At The King’s Head in Sandy, meanwhile, Gunslinger will be bringing their own take on classic rock tracks, also tomorrow.

Andy King from crack rock covers band Hot For Teacher and Mark Rogers from Grounded will feature as the band bring renditions of some true favourites to the venue, including numbers from the likes of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple.

The Bank Holiday Weekend will see Sandy music fans spoilt for choice – Monday sees Stormchaser at The Cock Inn. The rock act, who play original material, will be performing from 2pm to 4pm.

Rock and blues will also be on the menu at The Old Oak in Arlesey tomorrow, as Singapore Kiss featuring Martin James Lewis take to the stage.

If you prefer classic pop, Potton and District Club will be the place to be tonight. Almost Abba, a four-piece who blend classic Abba tracks with disco favourites from the 1980s, will be at the venue accompanied by DJ Ray K, who will throw some additional cover classics into the mix.

Classic rock covers from the 1960s to the present day will also be the order of the day at the same venue tomorrow night, as The Tabs travel down from Cambridge to perform at the club.

A rock tribute of a whole different kind will also be impressing music lovers in Potton tomorrow, via The All New Blues Brothers Revue, at The Rising Sun. This award-winning tribute started life in 2002 and has been wowing crowds all over the UK and Europe.

It includes all the music from both of the Blues Brothers films, and adds spontaneous comedy, choreographed dance routines, audience participation and occasionally even a touch of fire-eating for good measure.
