Ambulances ready for the holidays

AMBULANCE crews have been gathering information about road closures for the Royal Wedding celebrations.

This will enable the East of England Ambulance Service to find the best routes to emergencies.

Everyone should use 999 wisely and should consider alternatives such as ringing NHS Direct on 0845 4647, contacting the local GP surgery and visiting a local walk-in centre or pharmacy.

Ambulance spokesman, Gary Sanderson, said: “We would never wish to discourage people who have a genuine emergency from dialling 999 and we would like to reassure the public that we have the resources in place to manage the extra demand during this holiday period but we want the public to help us as well by following this straight forward advice.”
