Angela’s cancer research fund to be supported by Ladies Circle

Local girl Angela Butcher died, aged 30, of a rare and aggressive form of cancer in 2013 just six months after being diagnosed.

Her family were among VIP guests including former members, national president Zoe Gaskill and Biggleswade mayor Hazel Ramsay.

Angela’s mum, Linda, said she was delighted with this additonal pledge of support which will not only create additional income but will also raise awareness among women aged between 18 and 45.

It’s a cause close to members’ hearts – they had previously petitioned for the introduction of smear tests for younger women and supported breast cancer charities while another Circle had supported the Eve Appeal.

Angela’s Fund is therefore the perfect fit for BLC’s dedication to fundraise for women’s cancer, with the announcement coming during Gynaecological Cancer Awareness month.

Angela’s Fund has had several welcome boosts recently, including £200 from Beeston Open Gardens and £165 from Lee Belcher, who completed 15 marathons in 15 days for 15 charities.

Angela’s aunt and uncle Philip and Cynthia Butcher asked guests for donations instead of gifts for their Golden Wedding and raised £230 while her brother Mark made £85 from a cream tea.

Saxon Gate Co-Op is encouraging customers to support the Fund with posters, leaflets and collection pots instore.

There’s been more support with a collection of 4,000 5p pieces and 150kg of unwanted clothing, handbags and shoes.

To date Angela’s Fund stands at £35.580.32 and fundraising is ongoing.
