Anglers take the bait at popular annual fishing academy

Thirty people were invited to join the Korda Carp Academy after being selected from a host of hopeful applicants.

This was the fifth time that the academy took place but the first time it was held at Manor Farm Fishing in Lower Caldecote.

Several important members of the fishing world were tutors including Ali Hamidi and Danny Fairbrass, who present Sky Sport’s Thinking Tackle.

Ali said: “The kids have a syllabus which they have to pass. It’s not just having a laugh.

“The idea is that they go away better equipped as anglers and become more successful at their own personal fishing and at events – and possibly represent their country or become TV presenters themselves.”

The workshop was also filmed for Sky Sports and the Discovery Channel.
