Beautiful blooms filled a school with watering can displays

LOWER school children had a harvest festival with a difference.

The youngsters at Caldecote Lower School created beautiful floral displays in watering cans as part of their harvest celebrations at the weekend.

Headteacher, Lindsay Evans, said: “The children all brought in flowers and a watering can.

“It was all linked into the harvest, the rain, how much we value water and how important it is in our everyday lives.”

The pupils arranged the flowers in each of the school’s four classrooms on Friday.

Then on Saturday (October 1) the school opened its doors so that friends and family could see the displays.

Visitors made donations towards the Bishop’s Harvest Appeal, which helps poor families in Northwest Cambodia.

On Sunday the youngsters attended a service at All Saint’s Church in Upper Caldecote.

The children also wrote harvest prayers and acrostic harvest poems in school.
