Beautiful melodies with the pBone
Budding musicians are learning to play the pBone.
Students at Henlow Academy will be using the 32 plastic trombones, which are in the house colours. They were first tried during the school’s Arts Week, with the help of 120 mouthpieces from pBone. Deputy head and brass band percussionist, Caroline Hinitt,ran the sessions and Tilley House pupils were the first to have a go.
Bridget Fordham, head of music, said: “Pupils have come out buzzing about being able to play the trombone. Even in such a short time they have been able to get a variety of notes on the pBones. We are going to be teaching the rest of the school the basics of the pBone during this year and we also have close links to local bands and youth bands if pupils decide they wish to continue with music making out of school.”
