Bedfordshire scores highly on adoption

Central Beds Council is continuing to perform well above the national average for the time that it takes children to be adopted here.

For the three-year period ending March 31, 2014, the council took an average of 542 days to place a child with an adoptive family after they entered the care of the local authority. That is 86 days less than the national average and ranks Central Bedfordshire in the top quarter of authorities nationwide.

Councillor Mark Versallion said: “Children come into our care for a number of reasons, and it is our belief that they should all be offered the best possible start in life.
