Biggleswade mayor to support hospital unit

BIGGLESWADE mayor Councillor Tim Woodward has selected the Forster Suite at Lister Hospital in Stevenage as one of the town council’s chosen charities.

Each mayor selects two good causes to support during their term of office, and Mr Woodward wants to thank staff at the unit for their hard work in treating cancer patients.

He said: “Although it is not actually in the town itself Lister Hospital is one of the main hospitals in the area where patients from Biggleswade go for treatment.

“I have had two brain tumours myself and while I have not personally needed treatment at the Forster Suite as I have not needed chemotherapy, it is possible that I would need it if I had any recurrences in the future.

“My wife Nicola also works there so I know how hard the staff there work, and the invaluable care they provide to cancer patients from across the area.”

The second chosen charity is yet to be confirmed.
