The Bishop of Bedford, the Right Reverend Richard Atkinson, spent Monday morning at All Saints Academy in Clifton.

Headteacher Carol Ward said: “He spent some time with myself and the chair of governors and then he took a whole school assembly.

“He talked about what his role is and explained his cloak and hat and so on so the children understood what it is to be a bishop.”

After a coffee break with the staff the bishop joined the whole school outside and unveiled a plaque marking the school’s conversion to academy status last October. The design uses the children’s handprints. Former heads Denise Gower and Maureen Gravell also attended the ceremony.
