Bus shelter in Bury St Edmunds is welcomed

For elderly people like Audrey Killingback and her late friend Marion Weedon, buses are the only way of getting into town.

But with no shelter at the stop in Rougham Road previously, when it rained they often got ‘absolutely soaked’.

Two weeks ago, three days after Ms Weedon passed away, Cllr Sarah Stamp was able to honour her promise of getting one installed.

She said: “I’m really pleased I have eventually been able to deliver on my promise and that the bus shelter has finally been installed.

“It’s much needed by local residents, particularly elderly residents who no longer have a car and rely on public transport, and I’m sure those using it will be glad of the shelter as the weather gets wetter.”
