The care home will be situated at Bridge Farm on Ivel Road and would generate a high level of job provision for the local community.

The planning proposal outlined the care home would have 60 bedrooms together with landscaping and parking.

A new access is also proposed from the existing residential estate road.

There is an increasing need for care homes across Chronicle Country and this proposal comes as welcome news to residents across our area.

The planning documents state ‘according to the forecast modelling there will be demand for an additional 49 care home places in Ivel Valley by 2020’.

They go on to say ‘the proposed care home would provide employment for up to 85 people’.

‘Shefford is fairly centrally located within Central Bedfordshire, therefore it is anticipated that the jobs created would provide employment for local residents.’
