Carnival capers kick off with disco and crowning

Preparations for the 2017 Sandy Carnival are well under way and the first event of the year will see the royal party crowned.

The Prince and Princess competition has been expanded for this year and will include a disco for all participants.

The disco will be held at the Roundabout Club at 3pm on Sunday, March 19, and run until 6pm, with the competition taking place at 3.40pm.

Entrants must be aged between 7 and 11 years old on June 17, 2017. They must be available to attend Sandy Carnival and where possible any other events in the forthcoming year.

This year the judges will be Debbie McIntyre and Ruth Brown from Inskip and Davie, Jackie Horn, Carnival Queen from 2016, and 2016 Paralympic silver medallist, Harriet Lee.

Sandy Carnival will take place on Saturday, June 17 and this year’s theme is Best of British.

This year’s event kicks off at 1pm on the field at Sandye Place Academy with a great mix of 40 to 50 stalls. The carnival parade will leave All Saints Way at around 1.30pm and should arrive at Sandye Place Academy about 2pm.

There will be events in the main arena, and raffle with up to 40 prizes.
